DHRD has conducted a seminar on (Building Relation Bridges between Districts and Mass Medias) in the Ashti Hotel on May 29th 2010 for Dr. Saman Fawzi. About 78 participants were participated from different backgrounds such as Judges, Members of public prosecutors, Lawyers, Reporters, Parliamentary and representatives of civil society. Many mass Medias attended to cover the event:<\/p>\n

Summary about the Seminar:<\/p>\n
Dr. Saman Fawzi started to talk about the importance of the third and fourth authority which they are (judicial Authority and Mass Medias) in advocating on human rights and law supremacy within the society, in addition to congratulating DHRD for holding this seminar. The aim of assembling between these two authorities is to make better understanding and building relation bridges between the participants within the project of supporting the judicial system. Then the lecturer talked on the importance of disclosing the trails that has been mentioned in the Iraqi laws and Constitution. In addition to the value of disclosing trails and in the other hand the risks of this disclosing and negative effects on Judges. Furthermore, he mentioned several cases that can not be disclosed for the public while they are in the investigation phases. Because it causes damage for the cases` sides, the lecturer also mentioned that it is possible that media be a business, and also it is a career and its mission is to advocate on the people`s rights.<\/p>\n
Legally and the way of treating with crimes that commit via publishing news, because the articles (235 and 236) from the Iraqi punishment law number 11 in 169 and the article 9 of the journalist working law number 35 in 2007 are about this.<\/p>\n
After then the lecturer pointed to the importance of the role of the Judicial system and the media in monitor the government and disclosing and preventing corruption and trailing the violating of human rights and arrested persons and law supremacy.<\/p>\n
At the events` end, he mentioned that it is the first time for him that participate in such event that a lot of judges, lawyers, public prosecutor members, reporters are attended that event, also assuring on the importance of such events for the future. After the lecture ended the event continued for two hours and 15 of the participants had remarks and discussion were took lace on the topic and DHRD`s role in supporting the judicial system and human rights and the journalism in Sulaymania. It is worth to mention that the Directorate of the public prosecutor in Sulaymania assured on the importance of establishing the directorate of media within the judicial authority. The public prosecutor in Sulaymania assured that there is special interesting for the published news by the mass medias and that relevant to risks resulting from corruption and the violations and recording complains n these cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
