Seminar of developing the works of police establishments in Sulaymania Province

In August 2010K a seminar of (Developing the works of police establishments in Sulaymania Province was held in the Mam u Zeen Hotel in Sulaymania within the project of (Monitoring the persons and police stations). The representative of Kurdistan Region Government, Parliaments’` Internal and Human rights committees, representative of the appellate court in Sulaymania, general directorate of police and the director of the Sulaymania and Garmean province police, in addition to many police officers. Many mass medias attended to cover the event. After the seminar started the program begun as following:

– Presenting a speech by the KRG representative (Dr. Kawa Mahmood) that he congratulated DHRD and indicated to the KRG`s achievements that is following the reformation policies in different fields, also the KRG`s policy in punishment procedures is to reformin the prisons and the attempts for closing them and building schools instead, in addition to reach goals and recommendations that be delivered to the KRG via this seminar, furthermore; determining categories within the Governments` Budget for the 2011.

– – The representative of the general directorate of the KRG police (Brigadier Majeed Merkhan) presented a speech, despite of congratulating the people who worked in preparing this event, also he indicted to the that some times the regulations are goes beyond the frame of protection of Human rights and developing the system of Internal Ministry and the KR`s situation that it is different from another countries. In addition to indicating to the shortages that his directorate is facing from lack of proper buildings and unprofessional staff and lack of information.

– The representative of the appellate court in Sulaymnia (Judge Khder Hassan Mohamed), he thanked DHRD and the specialized organizations in law fields and monitoring prisons. Then he indicated to the importance of determining the causes of shortages in aim to support the police establishments, that is because that the government and the police institutions has lack of needed capabilities such as buildings and equipments.

At the beginning the project manager talked about the importance of the role of police establishments in preserving the stability inside the region, then the activities of the Sulaymania`s province police directorate were presented via statistics.
