On March 2, 2025, representatives from two organizations, DHRD and JASANA, held a meeting and discussion with the head of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate in Erbil. The meeting was also attended by the deputy head of the Press Syndicate and the secretary of the syndicate’s board. During the meeting, key challenges and obstacles related to the low representation of women in decision-making centers within media institutions were highlighted. Additionally, a draft code of conduct focusing on gender equality and the prevention of sexual harassment was presented. This draft was developed as part of the outcomes of the activities under the project titled “Strengthening the Capacities of Female Journalists: Promoting Equality, Enhancing Women’s Participation in Leadership Roles, and Fostering a Healthy Media Environment.”

The project, which aims to implement these initiatives, is being carried out by the two organizations, DHRD and JASANA (for media work), with financial support from the UPP organization. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to advancing gender equality and creating a safe and inclusive environment for women in the media sector.
